EFH Co. and Kowalski's Markets enjoyed successful collaborations on multiple grocery store projects in 2016 and teamed up again in 2017 for an expansion/renovation of a Kowalski's store on Hennepin Avenue in Uptown Minneapolis.

This project entailed the complete remodeling of the existing Kowalski's store and expansion into a vacated adjacent store, creating 28,000-square feet of up-scale grocery shopping that now includes a full-service deli, enlarged meat and seafood department, bakery, wine shop and flower market. Work on the original store involved relocation of the point-of-sale area, replacement of all coolers / refrigeration systems and installation of new flooring, wall and ceiling finishes. Crews also relocated the entrance to the store from one end of the building to the middle and erected an 11-foot high glass wall between the wine shop and the grocery area. But the key to this project was breaching a gap in the wall that separated the two stores, creating space enough for all the amenities Kowalski's has to offer. All work was done while keeping the existing Kowalski's open for business.

This project began in March of 2017 with a seven-month timeline and was completed ahead of schedule. Kowalski's Markets operate 11 stores in the Twin Cities area, and EFH Co. has played a part in the construction / renovation / expansion of all of them.
